- Located between Malaga and Marbella, the former Byblos hotel is reborn as La Zambra, a lifestyle destination “for those who seek the extraordinary.”
London, 22 September 2022 – Intriva Capital, the independent alternative asset manager, today announces that La Zambra has opened its doors as part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The opening marks the completion of the transformation of the former Byblos hotel, which was acquired by Intriva in 2019.
Home to 197 rooms and suites, including a spectacular 125-square-meter Grand Suite, La Zambra is a lifestyle destination “for those who seek the extraordinary”, marked by its iconic Spanish-Mediterranean architecture and laid-back cool interiors. Guests can design their own experience from a wealth of luxury amenities at the hotel, including a health club and spa, indoor and outdoor pools, night club, family facilities including a kid’s club, and exceptional conference spaces for private events and business meetings.
To ensure a well-rounded experience for its guests, the hotel’s philosophy is led by its four core values: ‘Andalusian escape’, ‘Relaxed luxury’, ‘Iconic Connections’ and ‘Rewarded curiosity.’ La Zambra is eponymous with the flamenco dance typical of the people of the provinces of Granada and Almeria – a dance which brought people together, lifting spirits and bringing a sense of freedom.
Perched on a hill between two 18-hole golf courses designed by one of golf’s most acclaimed course architects, the late Robert Trent Jones, La Zambra is designed as a hideaway meant for discovery, located less than 30 minutes from Marbella and Málaga Airport.
Originally opened in 1986, the mythical Byblos hotel became a favourite amongst celebrities and royalty in the late 20th century, with its famous white facade and blue towers. During the 80s and 90s the hotel welcomed guests, including Julio Iglesias and the Rolling Stones.
Tom Saunders, Partner and Head of Asset Management at Intriva Capital, said: “The opening of La Zambra marks the culmination of three years’ hard work, much of it delivered during the pandemic. The new hotel is now one of the premier destinations in the Costa del Sol and is perfect for guests in search of peace, quiet, privacy and relaxed luxury in a glorious setting. At La Zambra, the ordinary is left at the door, luxury is reimagined, and our guests’ curiosity is richly rewarded.
We would like to thank all our partners and are thrilled to be bringing a new luxury offering to the area, rooted in the authenticity of Spanish culture and Andalusian heritage.”
Inspired by the exclusivity, discretion, and luxury of its past, 5-star La Zambra joins The Unbound Collection by Hyatt and will be managed with Marugal Hotel Management, a leading luxury hotel management specialist.
We would like to thank all our partners on this project, including 01-20, CBRE Spain, Esteva i Esteva and Marugal Hotel Management.
